Recently we had the opportunity to support Riverside Housing during a community clean up, helping remove waste that had built up in the area over time.

Residents, Riverside staff and volunteers came together to clear rubbish and tidy the space, with everyone getting stuck in to improve the area. Our role on the day was to assist with the waste removal, making sure everything that had been cleared could be loaded and taken away properly once the clean up was complete.
A Great Team Effort on the Day
From the moment we arrived there was a good atmosphere around the day. People were already busy clearing the area, gathering rubbish and bringing it together ready for loading. Having everything brought into accessible areas made a big difference when it came to getting the waste removed efficiently.
One of our team was there with the van and said it was a genuinely good day. Everyone made him feel welcome straight away and there was plenty of help on hand throughout. As more rubbish was cleared people were bringing it over ready to be loaded, helping keep things moving and making sure the clean up made the biggest impact possible.
Apparently there was also plenty of party food going around during the day which went down well and helped keep everyone going while the work carried on.
More than anything though, the friendliness of everyone involved stood out. People were offering to help move items, asking if anything else needed loading and generally doing what they could to help. In his words, everyone genuinely couldn’t do enough.
Getting the Waste Removed
Once everything had been gathered together it was simply a case of getting the waste loaded onto the van so it could be removed from site. By the end of the day a significant amount had been cleared, helping leave the space looking much better than it had before.
All waste removed during the clean up was handled in line with waste management and environmental regulations, ensuring it was transported and disposed of responsibly through the correct licensed facilities.
Community initiatives like this show what can be achieved when housing providers, residents and local teams work together. A few hours of people giving their time and effort can make a real difference to shared spaces and the communities around them.
A big thank you to Riverside and everyone who took part on the day for making it such a welcoming and positive experience.
